First Direct DOWN – Internet banking site not working for HUNDREDS, here’s how to fix it

UPDATE ONE: The issues affecting the First Direct website seems to have been resolved now.

The website is no longer showing an error message when Express.co.uk tried to visit it while users on Twitter have also reported is as back up and running.

Responding to one tweeter, the First Direct Help Twitter account posted: “I’m glad it’s now working! May have been a temporary connection issue, but if you have any further problems please let us know”.

ORIGINAL: First Direct is down right now with the internet banking site not working for hundreds of customers.

Independent website Down Detector has received hundreds of reports that First Direct is down.

Customers have reported issues with the website as well as with internet banking and mobile banking services.

First Direct customers have been contacting the bank’s support page to report issues with the service and ask for assistance.

And the First Direct Help page has offered a fix for users hit by problems today.

They advise customers clear their history, cache and cookies.

The Twitter account added: “If you’re still having trouble after this, changing the ‘www1’ in the URL to ‘www2’ will allow you to access the site as normal.”

First Direct customers had flocked to Twitter to report issues with the bank’s site today.

One tweeted: “@firstdirecthelp Can’t log in today – what is happening?”

While another wrote: “@firstdirecthelp I can’t seem to log in are there any issues your end?”

And one added: @firstdirecthelp I can’t log on using my app – when will this be fixed?
