Destiny 2 OFFLINE: PS4, Xbox One servers down for Hotfix 1.1.1.3 maintenance update

UPDATE: Destiny 2 is currently offline for maintenance, which is scheduled to last until 8pm UK time.

Anybody who was logged in before 4pm can continue playing until 5pm, at which point they will be kicked out of in-game activities.

The Destiny 2 downtime will be followed by the Hotfix 1.1.1.3 update.

ORIGINAL:  2 servers are going offline for maintenance on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

The Destiny 2 server status won’t make good reading for fans, who will be unable to play for 4 hours.

“Destiny 2 will be brought offline tomorrow (1/16) for server maintenance in preparation for Hotfix 1.1.1.3. Expected duration is 8 AM PST to 12 PM PST,” Bungie tweeted.

Destiny 2 will be taken offline at 4pm UK time, although players can continue playing for another hour if they are already logged in.

Players will be kicked out of in-game activities at 5pm UK time, and unable to login until maintenance ends at 8pm GMT.

The maintenance will be followed by the release of Hotfix 1.1.1.3.

Patch notes are yet to be revealed for the new update, so stay tuned for more information.

It was recently revealed that Faction Rallies would return on January 16, while Iron Banner activities will be back in rotation from January 30.

Bungie will make big changes to Destiny 2 in the coming weeks, following criticism from fans.

Speaking about the Eververse, Bungie said: “We’re shifting the balance of new content in favour of activity rewards over Bright Engrams.

“This includes adding Ghosts, Sparrows, and ships (to date found only in Bright Engrams) to achievement reward pools.”

“We’ll provide a gameplay path to earn Bright Engrams and all contained rewards (including Event Engrams). We’ll give players more direct purchase options and make adjustments to Bright Engrams to allow players to get the items they want more often.”

These changes will be implemented in time for the Crimson Days event on February 13.

Bungie is also changing XP earn rates to make them more consistent.

“We are still investigating changes to XP earn rates,” the post continues. “Our goal with any updates to XP are transparency and consistent XP gain regardless of your preferred activity.

“Right now, it’s too slow in general and lopsided towards grinding specific activities (which is not a fun grind) and we want to fix that without making those activities low value to players who aren’t grinding them (fairness is cool).

“Our first attempt turned out to be unworkably buggy so we’re having to investigate other angles. We will continue to update you as we move forward.”

Hopefully some of these changes will come with today’s maintenance update.
