Ben Affleck CANNOT play Batman in THIS next DC Justice League movie – So who will?

The whole issue of who will play Batman next is becoming as murky as the dark underbelly of Gotham’s mean streets (and Affleck’s own contentious performance).

The incumbent hasn’t even shed his cape and leather and Jake Gyllenhaal is already a hot favourite to take over.

Whatever happens with the sequel to Justice League and teh projected Btatman solo movie, many sites have still insisted that Affleck will play the Caped Cusader one last time in Flashpoint.

This however is seemingly impossible.

One site echoed many other by saying: “Meanwhile, several rumors have emerged about whether Ben Affleck will play Batman again, with the consensus seemingly being he’ll play Batman in Flashpoint or Suicide Squad 2.”

Suicide Squad remains a possibility, although with filming still a way off it seems increasingly unlikley the star will remain attached to the franchise long enough to take part.

However, it is extraordinary to even consider Affleck as Batman in Flashpoint for one major reason.

Bruce Wayne is DEAD is Flashpoint.

Comicbook fans already know that Flashpoint explores an alternate timeline where Barry Allen wakes up to find he is in a world where Bruce Wayne was killed in that childhood attack.  Thomas Wayne has become Batman and Martha Wayne has gone mad and become the Joker.

At the moment, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who played the role in the fateful flashback sequence in Batman V Superman, is the hot favourite to play Thomas Wayne.

Flash star Ezra Miller revealed his excitement about that idea: “Oh, hell yeah. I think he’s amazing.”

Miller also stressed the thrill of exploring a totally different world and Batman, saying: “I think that the emotional arc of the Thomas Wayne stuff in Flashpoint is one of the illest [parts]. And to see that different manifestation of Batman and his whole different style.”

If the movie sticks to the original source material there could be a small camero for Affleck at the very end, after The Flash resets the timeline and meets up with his old teammate to tell him what happened to his family.

However, this hardly sounds like a fitting or satisfyinfg (or even redeeming) role for Affleck, who has been less than subtle about his dissatisfaction with the way the franchise has gone.

Otherwise, it is hard to see how Affleck could play Batman in Flashpoint.

Whether he will be replaced by Gyllenhaal in the standalone Caped Crusader movie, Suicide Squad 2 or the Justice League sequel remains to be seen.
