Super Mario’s best mate Yoshi’s new solo Switch adventure release date revealed?

Yoshi for Nintendo Switch was revealed by the Japanese games giant last year as part of a new wave of games for the portable console.

It was a surprise reveal for many, with Super Mario Odyssey hodding limelight for much of the end of 2017.

And that might be why we still don’t know that much about the upcoming Switch release.

Yoshi for Nintendo Switch is the current working title for the action platformer, which is expected to arrive in 2018.

It will be a two-player game that includes side-scrolling gameplay and differing paths to completion.

“Lead Yoshi on a brand new adventure that will turn everything you’ve come to expect from side-scrolling games upside down,” Nintendo tease.

“Explore a great, big world decorated like a miniature diorama in a new art style for the franchise, where each side-scrolling stage has the traditional front side as well as a flip side with different views and surprises.

“Look for items throughout the stage as Yoshi makes his way to the goal. You can even join up with a friend.”

Fans have high hopes for the game, although it probably won’t be able to challenge some of 2017’s biggest Switch titles, such as Zelda Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey.

But what it will do is provide more variety for the existing Nintendo Switch games list, which still has a ways to go before challenging that of the PS4 and Xbox One.

The latest news on the project comes from a potential retail leak, which may have given more clues to when Yoshi on Nintendo Switch may arrive.

A listing on Amazon Italy posted a June 29, 2018 release date for the standalone adventure, perhaps soon than some fans might have expected.

The reason that this placeholder date stands out is that most only register December 2018 for the Yoshi launch.

This latest update should be taken with a grain of salt as Nintendo have yet to confirm their plans for the Yoshi title.

However, if June does prove to be the date for the official release, fans should start hearing more about it very soon.
