Avengers Infinity War: Timothee Chalamet reveals failed audition for THIS character

The actor, 22, has picked up a lot of critical acclaim for his role in Call Me By Your Name, and he also has a great star turn in Lady Bird.

But he very nearly could have been Spider-Man as well, had Tom Holland not beaten him to the part.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, he said at the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards: “I read twice and I left sweating in a total panic.

“I called my agent Brian Swardstrom and I said, ‘Brian, I thought about this a lot and I have to go back and knock on that door and read again’.

“And he told me the story of Sean Young and how in an attempt to become Catwoman had scared everyone away when she showed up at the studio gates in costume.”

Everything has worked out just fine for both Holland and Chalamet, who have picked up strong reviews for the work they HAVE done.

Chalamet will now next be seen in Beautiful Boy, in which he stars as a young man struggling with meth addiction. Steve Carell plays his father.

He’ll also be in A Rainy Day In New York alongside Selena Gomez, but he’s already facing uneasy questions over the fact that Woody Allen is at its helm.

He said in a TV interview over the weekend: “It’s gonna be really important for me to talk about that… I hesitate to talk about it right now because what I say is only gonna anger people.

“So when that films comes out, if it comes out, that’s gonna be really important to talk about, but that’s not the time right now.”

Avengers: Infinity War, meanwhile, is out on April 27 in the UK.
