Resident Evil 2 Remake UPDATE – Could PS4, Xbox One game get reveal THIS month?

Resident Evil 2 Remake fans have faced a long wait to see the first glimpse of the highly anticipated PlayStation One remake.

The Resident Evil 2 Remake was first announced back in 2015, but no images or gameplay footage from the game was shown.

All that survival horror fans had to go on was a logo for the PS1 revival and confirmation that it is happening.

Since then Capcom has gone quiet on the Resident Evil 2 Remake, with plenty of big gaming events coming and going without an announcement.

During the dry spell last year, Resident Evil 2 Remake producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi tried to reassure fans.

Back in June he said the highly anticipated game would be out “soon”. It’s expected to be released on and .

And now it looks like fans’ patience has paid off, with a number of things pointing towards a Resident Evil 2 Remake announcement soon.

Resident Evil 2 is fast approaching its 20th birthday, with next Sunday January 21 going to be two decades since it was first released.

Resident Evil 2 was originally released on January 21 1998 in Japan and North America before a European release on April 29 1998.

Capcom could mark that milestone date by releasing new information on the Resident Evil 2 Remake.

And activity on the developers’ social channels could suggest they are ready to do just that.

Capcom recently updated the profile picture for the official Resident Evil Facebook and Twitter pages.

The main image now shows the old-school Resident Evil logo used during the PlayStation One days with the Baker Mansion from Resident Evil 7 in the background.

This logo and font for the Resident Evil name was used for the original game, as well as the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis box art in the UK.

The image change didn’t go unnoticed, with fans on the Resident Evil Facebook page left thinking Capcom were teasing an upcoming RE2 Remake announcement.

Commenting on the new profile picture, one fan posted: “RESIDENT EVIL 2 AND 3 REMAKE with first person view like 7”.

While another wrote: “This font is from Resident Evil 2. Some announcement was coming.”

And one added: “That font is from RE2. Is it finally time to reveal the remake?”

Capcom also changed the header image for the official Biohazard Twitter page.

Biohazard is the name of the Resident Evil series in Japan, and recent social activity again suggests an announcement is inbound.

On the Biohazard Twitter page, the header image has been changed and divided up into four slots.

Three of the slots show Resident Evil 7: Gold Edition, Resident Evil Revelations and Resident Evil Revelations 2.

But the slot on the far left hand side has currently been left blank, suggesting the space is being saved for another game.

The three games pictured are all out now and there are no other newly released major Resident Evil games currently on PS4, Xbox One, PC or Switch.

So, that blank space could be getting saved for an image of the Resident Evil 2 Remake.

While Capcom has not announced which consoles the Resident Evil 2 Remake is coming to, it would seem safe to bet on a PS4 and Xbox One release.

The PS4 and Xbox One both were home to Resident Evil 7 as is the PC.

A Nintendo Switch release is also possible, with Capcom president Haruhiro Tsujimoto recently revealing the developer is working on more games for the console.
