Liverpool news: Mohamed Salah is better than Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi – Rush

Salah has been a revelation since signing for Liverpool from Roma in the summer.

The Egypt international has scored 23 goals in just 29 games in all competitions so far with 17 coming in the Premier League.

There could be even more onus on him to break open defences after Philippe Coutinho’s departure to Barcelona this week.

And Salah will be hoping to add to his tally when the Reds host Manchester City tomorrow (4pm).

He is on course for a record season at Anfield and his performances have hugely impressed Liverpool’s all-time leading goalscorer.

Rush hopes the 25-year-old will be on Merseyside for years to come and has sensationally claimed he is currently better than Real Madrid’s Ronaldo and Barcelona’s Messi.

“On current form I would place Mo Salah ahead of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. He’s better than them at the moment,” Rush told the Sunday Mirror.

“Mo is also the African Player of the Year, which – considering the standard of their players throughout Europe – is a great honour.”

Rush added: “He has exceeded all expectations at Liverpool this season.

“Nobody expected him to score that amount of goals. He is able to get beyond defenders with his electric pace.

“Honestly, once he gets inside the penalty area with his speed and movement, I swear it’s Messi.

“He’s been unbelievable. You would pay anything to watch him – he just gets you off your seat every time he has the ball at his feet. Hopefully, he’ll be at Anfield for years to come because he can improve.”
