Chelsea news: Match of the Day pundit Ian Wright slams Tiemoue Bakayoko

Bakayoko started and played the full 90 minutes of the goalless draw against at Stamford Bridge yesterday, however failed to have much of an impact..

Despite the Foxes being reduced to 10 men when Ben Chilwell hacked down Victor Moses, the Blues were unable to grind out a win.

Bakayoko, who joined from Monaco last summer for a fee of £39.7million, has struggled to adjust to the tempo of the Premier League.

And Wright thinks the midfielder is lucky to be starting as he lacks “intensity”.

“Chelsea fans were probably giving me stick for saying ‘why I’m picking on him’?,” Wright told BBC’s Match of the Day.

“But now he’s started 17 of 23 games and there’s a real lack of intensity and drive.

“The fact he’s starting in front of Willian and Pedro is very confusing to me.”

Chelsea’s draw leaves them in third spot in the table, with Tottenham just three points behind after they thrashed Everton 4-0 at Wembley.

Next up for Antonio Conte’s men is an FA Cup third round replay at home to Norwich on Wednesday (7.45pm).
