However, an opinion poll carried out by Rasmussen shows that the Winfrey holds a lead over President Trump of 48-38.
The other 14 per cent said that they did not know which candidate they would vote for.
On Sunday night, Winfrey gave a speech as she accepted the Cecile B. DeMille award at the Golden Globes that many saw as her throwing her hat into the ring for a run at the White House.
Brian Stelter of CNN said that two “close friends” of Winfrey claim that she is “actively thinking” about standing.
Yahoo said: “The latest Rasmussen poll shows Oprah with a 55 percent general favourability, and 27 percent ‘very favourable’ rating.”
Rasmussen surveyed 1,000 likely voters on Monday and Tuesday. Their margin of error is three percentage points.
