New York shooting: Schools LOCKED DOWN after three people shot dead in Ellenville

A fourth person was also shot, according to the local police chief, but few other details are known.

According to reports the shooter is among the victims, but this has not been confirmed by police.

Chief Philip Mattracion said the shootings occurred at the Canal Lock apartments, which are located in upmarket Ellenville.

The small village is located less than 20 miles west of Poughkeepsie with a population of just over 4,000 people.

Ellenville schools were placed on lockdown for a brief period while police investigated the incident.

Ulster County Sheriff’s Office said: “There is no intruder in any of the Ellenville Central School District buildings.”
