American car firm Genovation unveiled its mind-boggling GXE electric car at CES 2018.
It is a reworking of the Chevrolet C7 Corvette Grand Sport and is now all-electric.
The Las Vegas show marked the debut for the awesome car conversion which has replaced the car’s petrol engine with twin electric motors which drive the rear wheels.
These motors are located in the same place as the petrol engine on the standard car and are said to produce 789bhp and 949Nm of torque and use twin inverters.
Genovation made a conscious decision to make the GXE feel and drive like the C7 Corvette.
Drivers will be able to choose from a seven-speed clutch-operated manual transmission, or an eight speed paddle-shift automatic gearbox.
Both versions of this will allow the car to accelerate from 0-60mph in less than three seconds.
Five separate battery packs with a total of 61.6 kWh of storage are spread throughout the vehicle.
The reason they are spread across the body are to optimise weight distribution and balance.
Due to the extra weight from the battery packs and motors, the car has increased in weight by 317.5kg to 1,859kg.
Generation has claimed the car will also be able to achieve up to 175 miles of range on a full charge when it is driven normally.
Utilising its max speed will certainly drain it a lot quicker.
The car is also said to have 0/50 weight distribution which should improve handling and will also come with Brembo carbon ceramic brakes.
While it shares a lot of the same DNA as the C7 Corvette its interior and body have also been heavily reworked including classic round Corvette lights, which aren’t on the C7.
A limited-run of GXE models will go into production with just 75 versions of the car set to go on sale, with initial deliveries expected to take place alter this year.
To achieve such high-power from an EV is not cheap.
It costs £554,000 to make the conversion on top of the cost of the donor Corvette car.
