Golden Globes 2018: Justin Timberlake tweet blacklash over Woody Allen movie role

Last night attendees at the Hollywood awards bash wore black as part of the “Time’s Up” campaign, aiming to end sexual assault and harassment in Hollywood and around the world.

Timberlake recently starred in Allen’s Wonder Wheel, after the director himself denied ongoing allegations of sexual assault.

Timberlake tweeted a photo of himself with Jessica Biel, saying: “Here we come!! And DAMN, my wife is hot! #TIMESUP  #whywewearblack”.

However his post was met with strong criticism.

“You starred in Woody Allen’s new movie. You built a career on malicious misogyny towards Britney Spears. You left Janet Jackson out to dry. This is pure performative fraud,” read one post from @lilblondeduck that received over 2,400 Likes.

@laurjbrown wrote simply “you’re literally in the new woody allen movie”, earning over 54,000 Likes and 16,000 Retweets.

@Shehryabajwa called him an “opportunist”, while @the_squarrell posted: “You JUST worked with Woody Allen. Just stop. You’re not an ally by any means.”

@wickedcellist wrote: “Wearing black, good. Talking about it, good. Next step, don’t participate in projects that profit men like Woody Allen. Have fun at the party. THEN keep striving for better.”

Allen’s Wonder Wheel also starred Kate Winslet, and bombed at the box office.

His next film will star Selena Gomez and Timothee Chalamet, the latter of whom is currently riding a high critical wave for his work in Call Me By Your Name.
