Liverpool SHOCK: Real Madrid line up Jurgen Klopp as Zinedine Zidane replacement

The Merseyside outfit are on the hunt for a new No 10 after they agreed a £142million fee with Barcelona for Coutinho to leave Anfield.

Coutinho made it clear in the summer he wanted to leave and Jurgen Klopp yesterday admitted he was unable to convince the Brazilian that staying at Liverpool was best for him.

They will now turn their attention on bringing in a replacement with Thomas Lemar and Riyad Mahrez the leading candidates.

But shock reports from Spain have suggested the club could lose Klopp to Barcelona’s La Liga rivals Real Madrid.

That’s according to Mi Otra Liga, who claim Florentino Perez has named Klopp as his No 1 target to replace Zinedine Zidane.

The Real boss is said to be under no immediate pressure at the Bernabeu.

But with Barcelona already 14 points clear in the league and a tough Champions League tie against Paris Saint-Germain in the next round, there is concern at Real they could finish the season trophyless.

And the report suggests Perez is hoping to reach an agreement with Klopp to become Zidane’s successor either this summer or in a years’ time.

The German coach has been in charge at Liverpool since October 2015 when he replaced Brendan Rodgers but is yet to win any silverware at Anfield.

Klopp tends to stay at one club for a set time having spent seven years at both Mainz and Borussia Dortmund.

But there is increasing pressure at Liverpool for Klopp to deliver a trophy to prove the club is heading in the right direction.
