Liverpool vs Everton LIVE: Team news & line-ups; Virgil van Dijk makes debut

Liverpool vs Everton LIVE: Express Sport brings you the latest FA Cup third-round scores, goals and highlights, including Manchester United’s tie with Derby

ROONEY STARTS

19:00: Better late than never from the Toffees, who’ve also named a strong starting XI containing Wayne Rooney, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Yannick Bolasie.

Everton XI: Pickford, Kenny, Martina, Holgate, Jagielka, Schneiderlin, McCarthy, Rooney, Bolasie, Sigurdsson, Calvert-Lewin.

Subs: Robles, Williams, Niasse, Davies, Vlasic, Lookman, Baningime.

SALAH IN THE BUILDING

18:57: Yep, Mohamed Salah isn’t fit enough to play this evening, but he’s at Anfield nonetheless.

The Egyptian international, been named CAF African Player of the Year for 2017, is chatting with fans in the main stand. Nice guy.

ELSEWHERE…

18:50: We’ll be focused on events at Anfield tonight, but there’s another FA Cup third-round tie taking place.

That’s right, Manchester United entertain Derby at Old Trafford.

I know what you’re thinking. Manchester United are playing on a Friday night but it’s NOT televised?!

I’m sure someone will be getting sacked for that oversight tomorrow…

VAN DIJK DEBUT!

18:45: I’ve been caught off guard by Liverpool’s early announcement of their starting XI, and there’s major news!

£75million signing Virgil van Dijk makes his Liverpool debut against Everton tonight.

Liverpool XI: Karius, Gomez, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson, Milner, Can, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lallana, Mane, Firmino.

Subs: Ward, Wijnaldum, Lovren, Klavan, Ings, Solanke, Alexander-Arnold.

What was I saying about resting players? Yeah, forget that… Everton line-ups are expected at 18:55, but I doubt there will be too many surprises.

EVENING

18:40: Welcome to our LIVE coverage of the 230th Merseyside derby.

After a ridiculously busy festive period, Premier League clubs can finally rest their best players as the FA Cup third-round gets underway.

Oh, I’m not supposed to say that…

LIVERPOOL vs EVERTON – PREVIEW

Liverpool’s top scorer Mohamed Salah (groin) and Philippe Coutinho (thigh) will miss the FA Cup derby with Everton.

The world’s most expensive defender Virgil van Dijk could be in line to make his debut but manager Jurgen Klopp is in no rush to field the Holland international following his arrival on January 1.

Midfielder Jordan Henderson (hamstring) and defender Alberto Moreno (ankle) are still recovering from injuries.

Everton defender Michael Keane is set to miss the Merseyside derby.

The centre-back had half-a-dozen stitches in a foot injury sustained against Manchester United on New Year’s Day and is considered too much of a risk to feature.

Expected new signing Cenk Tosun won’t be included in the squad after Everton failed to complete the £27million deal and register the paperwork before noon today.
