PUBG news: Xbox One update revealed, as Battlegrounds claims another victim

PUBG is getting another new update on Xbox One, as developer Bluehole addresses performance issues.

In a post on the Battlegrounds forum, the developer said that the next patch will address known crashes and provide some quality of life improvements.

“We’ve finalised our list of fixes for our first ‘Client Side’ patch of 2018. This next patch is focused on addressing known crashes as well as providing some quality of life improvements and gameplay adjustments.”

In terms of a release date, the patch has been submitted to Microsoft and should launch soon.

“If all goes as planned we’ll be submitting our patch to Microsoft Certification tomorrow, with more specifics regarding release timing as well as the content of our patch later this week,” Bluehole added.

Interestingly, the hugely popular PUBG has been blamed for the performance of Lawbreakers.

Lawbreakers publisher Nexon recently posted its financial results, which were below its outlook for the third quarter in North America. Nexon believes PUBG’s popularity negatively impacted sales.

“Our results in North America in the third quarter were below our outlook, mainly due to the sales from LawBreakers being below our expectations,” Nexon explains.

“LawBreakers is a unique FPS developed for core users.

“We had very high expectations for its launch; however, the timing of its launch turned out to be unfortunate, specifically the blockbuster PC online game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds came out right about the same time, making the market environment very tough for first-person shooters in general and for LawBreakers.”

The news comes as PlayerUknown’s Battlegrounds sets a new record on Steam.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has peaked with a massive 3,106,358 concurrent players on the PC platform.

Even at the time of writing, Battlegrounds has over 2 million concurrent players, which is head and shoulders above the 704k achieved by DOTA 2 in second.

Indeed, the game broke DOTA 2’s previous high of 1,291,328 users back in September, and has shown no signs of slowing down.
