Lewis Hamilton makes shock F1 claim: I have to tell the truth

After a 10-year hiatus from the F1 calendar, the French Grand Prix will take place in June.

The Paul Ricard circuit in Le Castellet will make its comeback at the top level of motor sport.

But current F1 world champion Hamilton thinks Magny Cours was a better track.

When asked for his thoughts on the track, Hamilton said: “Honestly, I don’t like Paul Ricard. I liked it when the French Grand Prix was at Magny Cours.

“When I says I don’t like Paul Ricard, I just mean it’s not as good as Magny Cours. I’m just being straight.

“The most important thing is that we’re going back to France which is important for the European season, but I think there’s a lot of great tracks in France like Le Mans. For some reason we don’t race there.

“Who knows, maybe we’ll have the best race of the season there (in Paul Ricard).”

Meanwhile, Mercedes chief Toto Wolff is confident Hamilton will sign a new contract with the team.

He said: “I don’t think [Hamilton leaving] is going to happen, but you never know.”

Hamilton has less than a year left to run on his present deal.
