Solo: A Star Wars Story trailer to be released THIS WEEK? Rumoured date surfaces

A rumour has surfaced on Reddit that the first glimpse at the Han Solo prequel, with Alden Ehrenreich in the lead role, will arrive this Saturday; January 7.

There are two NFL matches due to take place that night, and  user Risssk on the Star Wars Leaks subreddit thread has suggested one of them will come with the first footage from the film.

They wrote simply: “Wild card round, 1/7. No idea which game, but one of the two on that day.

“Teaser will drop at half-time.”

The alleged leaker’s credentials aren’t clear, and the claim has been met with some skepticism in the comments section – but a release in the next few days certainly makes sense given how soon the film is released (May).

It’s understandable that LucasFilm wouldn’t want to take any attention away from the Star Wars saga’s latest chapter, The Last Jedi; but now that it’s been out for three weeks, is it a good time to move attention to Solo?

Ron Howard, the film’s director, revealed a new image of Aldenreich at the wheel of some kind of speeder-like vehicle yesterday, teasing excitement fro the year ahead.

“Happy New Year from Team #Solo. We’re pretty pumped for 2018,” he wrote.

Solo’s route to the screen has been a troubled one, after directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller were axed after the lion’s share of production had already been done.

Howard was then drafted in and seemingly reshot a huge amount of the picture.

Solo is out on May 25.
