Ronnie O’Sullivan reveals shock plan to skip snooker World Championship

The World Championship at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield kicks off in April and Ronnie O’Sullivan has admitted he is already thinking about swerving it.

The 42-year-old, who needs just two titles to equal Stephen Hendry’s record, does not fancy the event this year.

And he admitted in a Twitter Q&A with fans he would rather be in Australia working on pool TV show Hustle which begins filming in May.

When asked if he would skip the event, the Rocket replied: “I might do the crucible goes on too long.

“It’s my least favourite event of all, plus I’ve got plenty of ranking points so no need to play as much.”

His fans were reeling at the thought of him not playing at the crucible and he dismissed accusations he was joking.

“No mate do I sound like I’m joking?” he added.

“You gotta be smart with what you do and don’t do in life.

“Making hustle is a right laugh and the Crucible is boring plus I’ve ticked that box five times!”

It is not the first time O’Sullivan has caused a stir on Twitter this month after he hinted before Christmas he would retire in 2025.

“Back on Twitter after some time away,” he wrote.

“Missed it so much. Love you guys have a blast for Xmas And enjoy your food 2018-2025 is gonna be an awesome time.”
