Star Wars 8: Mark Hamill APOLOGY for The Last Jedi slam ‘He’s not my Luke Skywalker’

It’s not just some of teh fans who are unhappy with The Last Jedi.

Hamill has been making commenst for the last 12 months about his misgivings over the movie’s plot and its treatment of Luke Skywalker.

The star told a Spanish magazine: “I almost had to think of Luke as another character. Maybe he’s Jake Skywalker, he’s not my Luke Skywalker.”

Now, however, he has posted a public apology for his comments.

Hamill had frequently joked about his shock when he discovered he would only appear in the last few secons of The Force Awakens.

He was no less vocal about his misgivings when he read the script for The Last Jedi.

A recent interview posted by SensaCine quoted Hamill as saying: “I said to Rian, I said ‘Jedis don’t give up.’ I mean, even if he had a problem, he would maybe take a year to try and regroup, but if he made a mistake he would try and right that wrong, so right there, we had a fundamental difference, but, it’s not my story anymore.”

Hamill added: “It’s somebody else’s story, and Rian needed me to be a certain way to make the ending effective.

“I almost had to think of Luke as another character. Maybe he’s Jake Skywalker, he’s not my Luke Skywalker.”

Throughout 2017 the outspoken star has made similar commens and then dialed them back with admissions that the finished film put all his fears to rest.

Over Christmas he tweeted: “I regret voicing my doubts and insecurities in public. Creative differences are a common element of any project but usually remain private.

“All I wanted was to make (a) good movie. I got more than that. Rian Johnson made an all-time GREAT one! #HumbledHamill.”
