Galaxy S9 release – New image may prove Samsung will have a big advantage over iPhone X

The looks set to be Samsung’s first big launch of 2018.

This next generation smartphone could arrive as earlier as February with Samsung expected to unveil all at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

This major event opens its doors on February 26 with many of the world’s biggest smartphone manufacturers, such as LG, Nokia and Huawei,  also likely to reveal shiny new devices.

Rumours suggest that the Galaxy S9 will bring minor improvements to this popular flagship range and this won’t be a radical upgrade.

Like the Galaxy S8, the S9 looks set to feature a curved AMOLED display, rear fingerprint scanner and water resistant design.

New features could include a faster processor and dual-lens cameras on both the front and rear of the device.

The recently has already revealed how Samsung could use a dual front-facing camera to produce the ultimate selfies and this feature could soon arrive on the S9.

Now a new leaked image has revealed a feature that many of Samsung’s rivals are ditching in their droves.

It seems the S9 will continue to support wired headphones with the inclusion of the popular headphone port.

An image, that has appeared on website Slashleaks, clearly shows the port visible on a board that is alleged to be part of the S9’s components.

There’s no way of telling if this image is real but other rumours have strongly suggested that the S9 will feature the 3.5mm socket.

Apple ditched this technology last year when it launched the iPhone 7, and the iPhone 8 and iPhone X are also without this port.

Apple users now have to connect their cans via Bluetooth or with an adapter that Apple supplies in the box with all its smartphones.

Many are still critical of Apple’s decision but that’s not stopped others, including Google and HTC, from copying this controversial design.

However, Samsung seems clear that it’s sticking with the headphone port and they are not only company who have decided not to remove it.

OnePlus also recently revealed they are keeping the port on their new range of smartphones with the firm saying: “Keeping the headphone jack allows our users to continue to take full advantage of the excellent range of audio choices on the market.

“We’re proud to announce that we’re keeping the headphone jack for the OnePlus 5T – and confident that our product decisions for our upcoming device will offer the best flagship experience possible.”
