Final Fantasy 7 Remake UPDATE – This may make the release date wait a little easier

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake is one of the most highly anticipated PS4 games on the horizon, but Square Enix have been quiet about new details this year.

Ever since the Final Fantasy 7 Remake was announced back at E3 2015, anticipation for the PS4 game among fans has been at fever pitch.

It seemed like a big information drop on the Final Fantasy 7 Remake was due this year, with the JRPG celebrating its 20th birthday in 2017.

However, new details about the upcoming PlayStation 4 game has been few and far between.

As Square Enix moved development for the Final Fantasy 7 Remake in-house, new details about the game all but evaporated in 2017.

All fans have had to go on this year is a handful of new screenshots, showing the beginning section of the game.

But Square Enix have teased a possible Final Fantasy 7 Remake release date announcement for next year though.

President and CEO Yosuke Matsuda recently revealed the Japanese gaming giant will announce release dates for some new games between April 2018 and E3 2018.

While the Final Fantasy 7 Remake wasn’t named, that JRPG revival – and Kingdom Hearts 3 – are the biggest games Square Enix currently has in the pipelines.

As fans wait for new Final Fantasy 7 Remake information, a trailer was revealed that could whet fans appetite for the upcoming PS4 game.

From January 19 2018, Universal Studios Japan will be getting a brand new VR attraction called Final Fantasy XR Ride.

The limited-time ride is part of Universal Studios Japan’s annual Cool Japan event.

To mark the launch of the VR roller coaster, a trailer was released giving people a glimpse of what to expect.

The trailer is set in the world of Final Fantasy 7, and features the game’s first location – Midgar.

The teaser clip, reported on by Kotaku, shows a visitor to the attraction hurtling through the FF7 world as Cloud and Sephiroth battle it out in front of them.

Sephiroth hasn’t featured so far in any Final Fantasy 7 Remake trailers.

So the teaser gives a glimpse of how the iconic villain looks being remade with modern technology, and how he could look in the upcoming JRPG.

The news comes after Final Fantasy 7 Remake producer Yoshinori Kitase confirmed some new details in a recent interview with the EDAMAME Arcade Channel.

First of all, it doesn’t seem likely that we’ll see the return of turn-based battling.

This is something already announced for Final Fantasy 7 Remake, which will feature something closer to FFXV battle mechanics.

Kitase also commented on other links between FFX and FFVII, revealing that they could be set in the same world.

“A little. There is a character in FFX called Shinra,” he commented.

“The scenario writer suggest that he might have something to do with the Shinra Company in FFVII.”
