68: Some mercy from Jurgen Klopp as Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino are replaced by Dominic Solanke and Adam Lallana.

LIVERPOOL 4-0 SWANSEA – FIRMINO

66: Ouch! This is getting painful now. Swansea give the ball away immediately after the restart and the rest is history.

Salah strides forward and plays the simplest pass over to the unmarked Firmino, who taps home into an empty net.

LIVERPOOL 3-0 SWANSEA – ALEXANDER-ARNOLD

65: Take a bow Trent, take a bow!

Trent Alexander-Arnold has added the third with a terrific half-volley that flew in off the crossbar.

64: Oliver McBurnie’s debut comes to an end as Tammy Abraham comes on to replace him.

63: That’s probably Swansea’s best chance. Routledge finds Fer completely unmarked inside the area but the midfielder fires wide. Should have done better.

60: Dangerous times for Swansea. They’ve been forced to commit numbers forward and that’s playing into Liverpool’s hands. Salah races onto a long ball over the top of the Swansea defence, but Fabianski is quickly out of goal to deny him.

57: Salah wins a corner and drifts it in himself, and McBurnie was there to clear.

But the danger isn’t quite cleared yet as Olsson concedes a free-kick for a late challenge on Firmino. He’s booked, and the set-piece is hooked wide by Salah.

54: It’s very, very difficult to see a way back for Swansea. They don’t really have the firepower to do what Arsenal did at the Emirates.

LIVERPOOL 2-0 SWANSEA – FIRMINO

52: Did I say there was no rhyme or reason, well, there is now.

Philippe Coutinho wins a free-kick and lofts it over to fellow Brazilian Roberto Firmino, who expertly volleys home at the back post. Not sure what Swansea were doing. Absolutely nobody was picking up Firmino.

52: Still no rhyme or reason here folks. Everything’s slow, sloppy and careless as the game kind of drifts. Salah injects some pace but selfishly goes for goal instead of squaring it to Coutinho.

51: Trent Alexander-Arnold whips a terrific cross from the left but Roberto Firmino couldn’t connect.

48: Liverpool will be desperate to add to their tally before the latter stages. Jurgen Klopp might want to give a few a rest before the visit of Leicester.

LIVERPOOL 1-0 SWANSEA

45: Back underway at Anfield folks. No changes for either side, so I guess Can has indeed recovered.

HT: Not quite sure about the status of Emre Can’s injury. Twice he’s been down in the opening 45 minutes but he’s made it to the break – I guess we’ll know if he’s OK it shortly. Probably not worth the risk given the injury to captain Jordan Henderson.

TWITTER ROUND-UP

Charlotte: Need to get Salah in the game more and get the ball on the floor and pass quicker! Come on!

Jack: This is reminding me very much of the Everton game just with less attacking threat. I smell a shocking equaliser second half.

DK: Very flat first half performance from Liverpool. No urgency, giving away the ball. Apart from the goal-  we haven’t been that good so far! I  hope to see more urgency in second half.

HT: Philippe Coutinho’s goal was the 250th Liverpool have scored under Jurgen Klopp, in his 128th game in charge.

Coutinho & Roberto Firmino are joint top scorers under Klopp, 37 goals each.

LIVERPOOL 1-0 SWANSEA

HT: And that’s the break. The hosts are deservedly ahead but they’ve failed to kick-on after Philippe Coutinho’s eighth-minute stunner.

Jurgen Klopp will expect more goals, intensity and quality in the second half.

46: What?! Mesa loses possession in the middle of the park and Salah threads it through to Firmino, who inexplicably fires wide.

44: Penalty? Nope. Salah goes down after a looping cross from the byline but Kevin Friend isn’t interested. The replay shows the Egyptian dived. No doubt about it.

43: Almost another classic from the Brazilian. He cuts inside in signature fashion but Fernandez makes a vital block. Coutinho delivers the resulting corner but it’s cleared.

There’s concern for Emre Can, who’s down receiving treatment on the pitch.

40: Close! Oliver McBurnie bundles his way through a few challenges before seeing a snapshot blocked. Ayew can’t adjust his body quickly enough to convert the rebound.

39: Andy on Twitter has summed up the situation perfectly here. He wrote: “The speculation around poor Philippe Coutinho is somewhat degrading given his professional attitude to the club. Just enjoy the beauty of his sumptuous skills!” On the pitch, absolutely nothing is happening. Unfortunately, it’s really quite boring.

Andy sounds like a smart guy. Whoever sees him next should give him a pat on the back.

36: Jamie Carragher said the only thing that could prevent Liverpool from winning today was complacency. He’s right, and it’s started to creep in now as Roberto Firmino sends a long-range effort wide.

33: The game has lost all rhythm. Liverpool have lost their spark, while Swansea are sloppy going forward.

30: Half an hour gone and it’s very comfortable indeed for Jurgen Klopp’s side. Swansea look painfully devoid of confidence. Oxlade-Chamberlain blazes over from distance – Liverpool guilty of going for the spectacular instead of playing the easy ball.

28: Emre Can ignores the unmarked Salah out wide and instead sees his 30-yard effort saved by Fabianski. Better leave those to Coutinho in future, Emre.

25: Carragher says he feels sorry for McBurnie today. The youngster has no support going forward. Although he tempered his sympathy by taking me mick out of his tiny shin pads. Fair exchange I’d say.

22: Oliver McBurnie is afforded far too much space as Swansea heave it long. The striker wins it ahead of Matip and Klavan but rolls it to Mignolet.

19: Another beautiful long pass from Coutinho almost finds Salah inside the area, but it’s a fraction over his head allowing Fabianski to collect.

16: Young Oliver McBurnie, who’s making his full debut for Swansea aged 21, has rolled his socks down close to his ankles.

I believe Everton’s Tom Davies was the first to bring that back from the ‘90s

13: Close! Liverpool are really in the mood tonight. Firmino, Salah and Coutinho combine with the latter cutting it back to Robertson, who lashes wide from distance.

11: Philippe Coutinho has scored 19 Premier League goals from outside the box – one more than Robbie Fowler and second only to Steven Gerrard (33) among Liverpool players.

10: Well Swansea’s plan to defend for 90 minutes is out the window inside eight minutes. What do the visitors do now?!

LIVERPOOL 1-0 SWANSEA – COUTINHO

7: Wow, he’s just outrageous. Philippe Coutinho has added another absolute stonker to his catalogue of wonderful goals.

Roberto Firmino wins back possession, lays it off to Mohamed Salah, and the Egyptian finds Coutinho, who curls a stunner into the top corner from outside the box.

6: It’s funny that Liverpool supporters are always surprised when a team comes to Anfield and defends with everyone behind the ball. It happens every week! Swansea have dug themselves a trench and intend to stay there for as long as humanly possible.

3: Modest start to proceedings here at Anfield, whatever that means… I actually mean it’s been fairly slow with Liverpool and Swansea trying to find their rhythms. No chances.

LIVERPOOL 0-0 SWANSEA

1: And we’re underway folks! Liverpool haven’t lost a home league game on Boxing Day for 31 years, since a 0-1 loss vs Manchester United in 1986. I think that’ll be extended this evening.

SALAH DAYS

17:28: Mohamed Salah’s tally at this stage for Liverpool is bettered by only Robbie Fowler (16 in 1995-96) and Luis Suarez (19 in 2013-14).

And perhaps more worrying, there’s been 35 goals between these two sides in their last nine meetings…

SWANS TO AVOID A CHRISTMAS ROASTING?

17:25: Bottom side Swansea, without a manager and with just one win in 11 Premier League matches, head to the unhappy hunting ground of Anfield.

After 15 successive visits without a win they finally broke their duck in January with a 3-2 win.

It was a gritty victory – pegged back from 2-0 they eventually prevailed 3-2 – which sparked four wins in six matches to kickstart a successful survival bid.

Lightning rarely strikes twice, however, as the Welsh club have never won back-to-back games against Liverpool.

Their last five top-flight visits to Anfield have produced a total of 23 goals – of which they were on the receiving end of 16 – and caretaker boss Leon Britton needs to get his gameplan right if the Swans are to avoid a stuffing.

LIVERPOOL vs SWANSEA

17:20: Here’s tonight’s line-ups folks. Jurgen Klopp names a strong starting XI for the Boxing Day bonanza.

Liverpool XI: Mignolet, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Klavan, Robertson, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Can, Wijnaldum, Salah, Firmino, Coutinho.

Subs: Karius, Lovren, Milner, Gomez, Mane, Lallana, Solanke.

Swansea XI: Fabianski, Naughton, Fernandez, Mawson, Olsson, Fer, Roque, Carroll, Routledge, Ayew, McBurnie.

Subs: van der Hoorn, Abraham, Dyer, Nordfeldt, Clucas, Rangel, Sanches.

Referee: Kevin Friend

EVENING

17:15: Welcome to our LIVE coverage of Liverpool vs Swansea from Anfield.

Is everyone still feeling in the festive spirit, or have you eaten yourself into coma?

Either way, we’ve got one more tasty course coming up as Jurgen Klopp looks to capitalise on Manchester United dropping points against Burnley.

Speaking of food, it’s time for me to crack open yesterday’s leftovers – starting with an obscene sandwich that I needed a wheelbarrow to transport to the office.

Let’s get going!
