Man Utd news: Louis van Gaal urges one player to sign for Barcelona

Manchester United ace Blind has emerged as a shock target for Barcelona with his future uncertain.

The Holland international has been at the club since 2014 but, nearly four years on from his arrival, his best position remains a mystery.

Barcelona supposedly want Blind as a replacement for Javier Mascherano, who is expected to jump ship to the Chinese Super League in the New Year.

And former Manchester United boss Van Gaal has urged his fellow Dutchman to leave the club and move to the Nou Camp if given the chance.

“Daley Blind is better off going to Barcelona, than staying with Man United,” he said.

“He is not even on the bench for United sometimes.

“Daley can play in more than one position and at Barcelona he would never be sat in the stand.”

Van Gaal also thinks Blind’s style of play would make him a Barcelona hit.

“I think Daley would fit in better at Barcelona anyway. His level and his style of play is more suited to Spain than England,” he added.

“He can operate as a central defender who builds up the play.

“He can be a defensive midfielder or an attacking left back. Daley can do it all.”

Blind has won the FA Cup, EFL Cup and Europa League since signing from Ajax in the summer of 2014.
