Bright on Netflix: Tikka star Lucy Fry reveals bizarre audition with Will Smith

For a relative unknown like Fry, it was daunting to audition with such a famous entertainer – but in a new interview she opened up on jumping straight in to the deep end.

“I was speaking gibberish, pretending to pull stuff out of Will’s head and crawling around the room, really crazed,” she told CNET, adding high-pitched wailing sounds.

“At the end, I was like that either went really well or really bad.”

Of course, it went really well – and she deservedly landed the part.

Bright scored incredibly lowly with critics, with some labelling it the worst movie of 2017.

However audiences have generally been more receptive – and the good news is that a sequel is already on the way.

Smith plays LAPD officer Daryl Ward, with Joel Egerton as Orc rookie officer Nick Jakoby.

They go on a routine patrol night, only to discover an ancient magic wand, thought to have been destroyed, and face threats much bigger than either of them bargained for.

Suicide Squad’s David Ayer is the director behind it, with the cast also including Noomi Rapace as the lead antagonist.

With a believed $90 million budget, it is the most expensive Netflix production so far.

Bright is streaming now.
