Marco Asensio threatens to quit Real Madrid after El Clasico – Man Utd tipped to sign him

The young star wants game time and is furious he hasn’t had more chances this season after impressing last season and in the summer for Spain.

Asensio expected to be a regular starter after breaking through last term on the way to Real Madrid’s La Liga and Champions League success.

But games have been hard to come by despite the struggles of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale’s injury problems.

And now, on the eve of the first La Liga Clasico of the season, he is threatening to quit the club if not given a chance in the team.

Bale is back and looks likely to get the nod over Isco with Asensio further back down the pecking order.

And Diario Gol claim Asensio is now ready to end his time at the club if he does not get the chances he deserves.

He is said to be tired of meritocracy at the club and wants out.

Both Manchester United and Chelsea have been linked with moves and could be encouraged to make offers in January.

Asensio, 21, has scored four times in nine starts and four substitute appearances.

He signed a new deal in September to run until 2023 but is ready to walk away from it.

Yesterday Betstars claimed Manchester United were favourites for the Spain international.

BetStars Director of Trading Ian Marmion said: “Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio has been deprived of opportunities at the Bernabeu in recent games, which has put Europe’s elite clubs on high alert. Manchester United are the favourites at 5/2 to pounce for the youngster, while Jose Mourinho’s former club Chelsea follow closely behind at 4/1 to bring the Spaniard to the Premier League.

“Free-spending PSG are priced at 13/2 to swipe the 21-year-old attacker from Los Blancos in January, while Bayern Munich can be backed at 10/1 to become the Spanish international’s next club.”
