Pokemon Go news: Christmas event 2017 UPDATE, new Gen 3 leak, big AR release

While a Pokemon Go Christmas event 2017 has been confirmed by Niantic, fans are still waiting for its release.

So far, we’ve been told that some kind of announcement is expected this week.

However, Niantic have been keeping tight lipped over details on what to expect with the new event.

Luckily for fans, there has been a few leaks that point to what will be arriving in time for the Holiday Season.

According to recent reports, the Taiwanese Playstore was updated with new details on the upcoming event, perhaps pointing to an imminent announcement.

If the new leak proves to be true, Trainers can expect a new box sale, which will include an incubator and the new Star Piece item.

The Star Piece has already been found in the game’s master code and is reported to be a store item that boosts Stardust gains by 50% over 30 minutes.

There will also be ten new Pokemon Gen 3 types launched for the Christmas event, which will include Delibird.

Delibird is something else that was recently found to be ready for launch by dataminers, after it was revealed that its special “Present” move had been added to the game.

The Gen 2 Pokemon’s signature Present move allows for special items to be stored in its tail that can cause damage or heal its opponent.

For obvious reasons, this new mechanic has probably been a little hard to incorporate into the game, what with how the current battling system works.

However, dataminers say the Present move was part of a recent Pokemon Go update, leading many to believe it could be launched as part of a new Christmas event.

Pokemon Go developer Niantic has also announced a brand new AR Plus mode for iPhone.

The new augmented reality features will be available on devices running iOS 11. This includes the iPhone 6S and newer models.

As part of the new update, Pokemon will be more accurately positioned based on their surroundings, while their size will increase or decrease depending on how close you are.

Even better is that players can now capture Pokemon in a number of different ways.

“AR+ mode also adds new dynamic gameplay to Pokemon GO encounters that will provide Trainers with more ways to catch Pokemon,” Niantic explains.

“Trainers can now get closer to a Pokemon to receive a special capture bonus, but Pokemon are aware of the physical proximity of Trainers, so they must approach carefully as they may flee if a person comes too close too quickly.

“Getting closer to a Pokemon using AR+ has unique gameplay benefits, including being awarded the new Expert Handler bonus, which provides more XP and Stardust.”
