Bristol City can exploit key Manchester United weakness in Carabao Cup tie – Higginbotham

Bristol City head into tonight’s clash following a fine run of form in the Championship, which has left them in third spot in the table.

Higginbotham has watched Lee Johnson’s side live this season and believes their physical nature is one key strength United boss Jose Mourinho must be wary of.

United have conceded a few goals from set pieces in recent weeks and Higginbotham says City will look to exploit any slight weakness in the visitors’ defence.

“The potential of this football club is absolutely immense,” Higginbotham told Sky Sports News.

“It will be a great atmosphere this evening, it will be a sell-out.

“I was here a couple of weeks ago when they played Middlesbrough and it was very impressive.

“They will give a good account of themselves, they’re a good team, they can be a physical team when needs be.

“Set-pieces they are very strong on, obviously we have seen Manchester United in recent weeks conceding a few from set pieces.

“So I don’t think it’s going to be an easy game for Manchester United, but they’ll know that as well.”

Higginbotham is expecting a close encounter at Ashton Gate, but is still predicting United to get the job done.

“I think it’s going to be very tough for Bristol City,” he added.

“I think Manchester United, we know how much Jose Mourinho respects this competition.

“The team that he is probably likely to put out will be a strong team as well.

“I think it will be quite a close game but I’m just probably edging on the side of Manchester United with the players that they’ve got within the team.”
