Man Utd news: Fellaini will sign new contract but Mourinho is wrong to offer it – Hislop

That is the opinion of ESPN FC pundit and former West Ham goalkeeper Shaka Hislop.

Fellaini is out of contract at Manchester United at the end of the season and has been linked with a move away from the club in January.

Paris Saint-Germain are one of the clubs reportedly interested in him, along with Turkish giants Besiktas.

However, Hislop reckons the Belgian, who has not played since November due to injury, will put pen to paper on a new deal.

But he thinks United boss Jose Mourinho is wrong to offer him one because he is not a typical ‘Manchester United’ player.

“In the next few months I’m going to put this down as no (I don’t think he will leave),” Hislop said.

“I do (think he will sign a new contract).

“Saying that, I don’t think Fellaini is a Manchester United player, not the Manchester United I know, or remember I should say.

“But he’s signed a couple of extensions over the last couple of years, which again left me bemused.

“(But) I don’t see Jose Mourinho putting him out to pasture just yet, so to speak.”

Fellaini will not return from his injury for the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Bristol City on Wednesday.
