GTA 5 Online fans are counting down to the start of the Festive Surprise Christmas event.
The GTA Online Christmas event has been given a December 19 release date on PS4, Xbox One and PC. Grand Theft Auto updates tend to go live at around 11am UK time, so stay tuned for more information.
Rockstar is keeping tight-lipped about what fans can expect, but past events have included free gifts, new items and other in-game bonuses.
One thing that’s almost certain is that snow is expected to come back to GTA 5. Based on previous years, snowy weather could hit San Andreas for a few days from December 22, before returning again in time for the New Year.
The snowy weather gives players the chance to throw snowballs, and is accompanied by free Christmas trees in apartments.
The Festive Surprise Christmas event typically includes hundreds of new and returning items, including vehicles, clothing and weapons. These items can be purchased from the in-game stores.
There’s also a selection of daily login gifts, some of which have already started to appear.
It all began on Friday, December 15, when players were able to unlock the Rockstar Black Out Tee and Full Armor. This was followed by the Black Warstock Cache, Carry Hoodie and 25 Sticky Bombs on Saturday, the Rockstar White Out Tee and Full Snacks on Sunday and the Vibrant Check Pyjamas and Smoking Jacket plus Full Ammo on Monday.
“It’s the season for giving and we have a special suite of weapons and apparel designed to help you slay in style as the special holiday period approaches,” reads a Rockstar post.

The news comes just days after the release of the GTA Online Doomsday Heist.
The plot sees an unlikely alliance team up to save San Andreas from total annihilation.
Players will explore downtown Los Santos, the inner depths of Mount Chiliad and even the ocean floor.
Rockstar explains: “A billionaire tech mogul, an idealistic intelligence agent, a socially awkward conspiracy theorist and a neurotic supercomputer have been forced into an unlikely alliance to save San Andreas from total annihilation.
“As apocalyptic threats mount from enemies unknown, you and your criminal crew are enlisted to un-tangle mysteries and eradicate threats spanning from the bustling streets of downtown Los Santos to the ocean floor and all the way to the inner depths of Mount Chiliad in an epic new online adventure.”
