Aston Villa defender John Terry reveals huge injury update live on TV

Terry broke his metatarsal at the start of November and has been out of action ever since.

The former England and Chelsea captain had impressed in his maiden few months at Villa Park.

Aston Villa are gunning for promotion this season and Terry’s return will likely be a welcome boost for manager Steve Bruce.

And the 37-year-old has revealed he is almost 100 per cent fit and wants to get a final game under his belt before the year is out.

“I’m on the verge of getting back fit at the moment,” Terry said on MNF.

“I’m back running and hoping to join the group after this week’s hard run.

“Hopefully I will rejoin the group next week, be ready if not before New Year, hopefully after.”

Villa face Sheffield United this Saturday and travel to Brentford on Boxing Day.

They then play at fellow promotion hopefuls Middlesbrough on December 30 before a match at home to Bristol City two days later.

Terry played a full 90 minutes in the 0-0 home draw with Middlesbrough back in September, as well as the 1-1 result at Bristol City the previous month.
