Xbox One news: Final Backwards Compatibility 2017 and Games with Gold December

The final Xbox One Backwards Compatibility games have been released by Microsoft in 2017.

More are still coming next year, however, Microsoft have confirmed that there will be no new titles arriving this week.

Xbox’s Major Nelson himself has confirmed that no more announcements are being planned for December, although more will arrive in 2018.

The team in charge of putting together these projects are off on their holidays, although fans can still add new Xbox 360 titles to their libraries through Games with Gold.

The final titles to be announced by Microsoft were Earth Defense Force 2017 and Sonic Adventure 2.

“After releasing 136 Xbox 360, 13 Original Xbox & 7 enhanced Xbox 360 titles in 2017, the Xbox One Backward Compatibility team is taking some time off for the holidays.

“Releases resume after New Year. Thank you for all of your support this year.”

What plans Microsoft have for Backwards Compatibility in 2018 have not been confirmed, however, fans are hoping that more original Xbox games could be arriving.

There’s also a big chance that the BC program could see more  enhanced Xbox 360 games appearing on Microsoft’s Xbox One X as well.

Currently, fans can enjoy these titles in an upgraded form on Microsoft’s new console: Gears of War 3, Fallout 3, Mirror’s Edge, Assassin’s Creed, Skate 3, Oblivion, and Halo 3.

The Xbox One and Xbox 360 Games with Gold lineup was recently updated with December’s last free titles.

Back to the Future: The Game – 30th Anniversary Edition on Xbox One and Marlow Briggs and the Mask of Death on Xbox 360 are now available to download.

The next batch of free Xbox One and Xbox 360 games will be released on January 1.

It’s possible the next batch of free games will be announced next week.

Back to the Future: The Game – 30th Anniversary Edition: “Marty’s back! In this fan-favorite adventure game, the time-traveling DeLorean returns to Hill Valley, minus a driver, and Marty must protect the space-time continuum.”

Marlow Briggs and the Mask of Death: “A new breed of WARRIOR returns, committed to destroying the enemies of FREEDOM! No-nonsense hero Marlow never shied away from danger or trouble. But now he faces his ULTIMATE challenge.

“Blasting into Central America, he has an industrial evil to defeat whilst bound to an ancient Mayan Death Mask who’s had no-one to talk to for 2000 years.

“With cliffhanger over the top action and cinematic gameplay, Marlow Briggs takes inspiration from the best of blockbuster films, comic book heroes, and action games with its focus on relentless high-octane combat, exotic and danger filled environments and epic set pieces.”
