Square Enix news: Final Fantasy 7 Remake release date, Nintendo Switch games update

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake release date is big news that PS4 fans want to know more about.

While we’ve seen the first snippets of action and the first hints at how the gameplay will work, we still don’t have a launch schedule.

Square Enix have been very vague on their plans for this projects, dropping teasers at one point that they may use an episodic format for FF7.

That could help speed up the release process, however, a lot more information is required before fan curiosity will be sated.

Major events, such as E3, the Tokyo Games Show, Paris Games Week and PSX 2017, have been and gone with no announcements on the FF7 Remake.

And PS4 games fans have been dealt another blow as another major event is on the horizon which the Final Fantasy 7 Remake will make a no-show at.

Jump Festa 2018, an annual exposition in Japan, is just around the corner, with the event taking place on December 16 to 17.

The event is mainly focused on anime and manga, but game developers such as Capcom, Bandai Namco and Square Enix all have a presence there.

The latter recently revealed their line-up for Jump Festa 2018, Siliconera reported, and the Final Fantasy 7 Remake is once again not making an appearance.

The franchise will be represented by Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, and other games being shown include Dragon Quest titles and the Secret of Mana remake.

It now looks like Square Enix will reveal more on the Final Fantasy 7 Remake next year ahead of E3 2018.

Square Enix have also been talking more about their plans for Nintendo Switch games support.

Yosuke Matsuda, president of Square Enix, recently spoke to The Telegraph, who asked the impact the Switch success might have on the company.

Matusda revealed that the Switch doing well can only be a thing for Square Enix, who confirmed that releasing games on as many platforms as possible is something they want to do more of.

“We announced this in our yearly results as well, but certainly the really great thing for us is to see how the Switch is selling so well, it’s doing incredibly well, which is nothing but a good thing for us,” Matusda explained.

“As a publisher and developer of games, we obviously want to get our games onto as many different platforms as possible, and so obviously having a broad range to choose from can only be a good thing for us, so certainly seeing Nintendo’s hardware selling so well and doing so well, getting our games on that can only be an advantage for the company, so we’re very happy about it.

“Like I said, it makes our portfolio even more broad and even more bountiful.”

Matsuda in November told investors the company would be making release date announcements between April 2018 and E3 2018 in June.

Titles like Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Kingdom Hearts 3 weren’t mentioned by name, but they are easily the company’s biggest new releases.

Recently Matsuda also promised that the Final Fantasy franchise would continue to “evolve” from next year onwards.

He said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the fans of the Final Fantasy series.

“I’m pleased to see that after 30th years, everyone continues to love the franchise.

“On behalf of the company, alongside our gratitude towards everyone, we’ll prepare several anniversary events.
