Lord of the Rings SHOCK: Ian McKellen set to reprise Gandalf AGAIN?

It seems that there’s only one Gandalf to rule them all when it comes to Middle Earth on screen.

The 78-year-old star originally played the wizard in the Lord of the Rings film trilogy, before returning a decade later to star as a younger version of him in The Hobbit films.

At the time he joked how if he didn’t return for the prequels someone like John Hurt would be cast instead.

But now with the announcement of , it looks like Sir Ian wants the job again.

Appearing on Graham Norton’s BBC Radio 2 show, the host asked the actor: “Amazon [is] doing a TV series of Lord of the Rings.

“Now, isn’t that annoying, that there’s going to be another Gandalf in town?”

Sir Ian replied: “What do you mean, another Gandalf? I haven’t said yes because I haven’t been asked.

“But are you suggesting that someone else is going to play it? Gandalf is over 7000 years old, so I’m not too old [yet].”

The Lord of the Rings TV show is said to be a prequel/spin-off of The Fellowship of the Ring.

There’s over half a century gap between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, so Gandalf had to be up to something.
