Cristiano Ronaldo: Real Madrid star makes stunning revelation regarding future

Ronaldo has four years remaining on his current contract but has regularly been linked with a move away from the Bernabeu.

His tax evasion case in the summer led to suggestions he had grown frustrated with life in Madrid and he wasn’t happy with the lack of support shown from club officials.

Florentino Perez later defended Ronaldo’s situation, leading to speculation cooling over Ronaldo’s possible exit.

And he proved his worth for Real once again in their Club World Cup final against Gremio yesterday, scoring the winner with a sensational free-kick.

The Portugal international was questioned whether he would see out his career in the capital of Spain, and he admitted it is not up to him.

“If it is possible, yes, I would like to retire in Madrid,” Ronaldo said.

“But things don’t depend on me. What depends on me is what I do on the pitch.

“When I say ‘possible’, I do not make the decisions in the club. The other things don’t depend on me.”

Ronaldo has now scored seven times in the Club World Cup, more than any other player in the tournament.

And he expressed his delight at adding another personal record to his name as well as another trophy.

“I am very happy because we own a trophy we really wanted. Madrid has never won five trophies in a year.

“We are very happy, this is very natural.

“Obviously, I am very happy to know I got another record as a top scorer in the Club World Cup.

“I talk on the pitch – that is my work.

“I always try to give my best and people enjoy my football.

“I want to enjoy and keep on motivating myself to keep on playing, train and enjoy football.

“That is what I enjoy the most.”
