Star Wars fans reveal All-Time FAVOURITE character and it’s NOT who you think

Star Wars The Last Jedi is out now in cinemas.

The end is drawing in for a franchise that started way back in 1977.

There have been a host of memorable (and occasionally disastrous) characters over the decades, but who have fans loved and hated the most?

Vue Entertainment polled the nation and there are some major surpises on the list, especially for some leading characters who embarrassingly landed lower down than a certain Gungan…

Vue Entertainment polled 2,000 Star Wars fanatics.

Incredibly, devoted fans revealed the average time they spent watching every one of the Star Wars films totalled at 63 hours and 48 minutes.

That’s the equivalent of two days, 15 hours and 48 minutes. It is probably no surprise that the most watched film is Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back.

With so many hours of Star Wars immersion, these fans know what they do and don’t like and it’s clear that the biggest love remains for the original three movies.

Taking the top spot for favourite character was handsome rogue Han Solo.

It’s double trouble at the top woth his sidekick Chewbacca roaring (literally) into second place.

Jedi Master, Yoda, third place took he did.

As many as one third of enthusiasts agreed Jar Jar Binks is the most annoying character in the series but the controversial Gungan actually still placed higher than any character from the new trilogy, even beating Rey by one place.

The poll also asked fans to name their favourite all-time moment and it’s clear that nothing will ever come close to that father-son shocker.

The iconic moment where Darth Vader reveals his true identity and relationship with Luke Skywalker was hailed as the best movie moment, followed by the Death Star attack in ‘A New Hope’ and the Battle of Hoth from ‘The Empire Strikes Back’.

Star Wars droids come into a world of their own as R2-D2, unsurprisingly, grabs the spot for top bot, while the Millennium Falcon was voted the best starship, with the X-Wing Starfighter and Star Destroyer taking a back seat for second and third place.

Fans’ most popular episode of all-time was revealed to be Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back, narrowly followed by Episode VI – Return of the Jedi and Episode IV – A New Hope.

Dean Cross, Film Content Manager at Vue says, “Star Wars continues to be a sell-out success as we prepare to welcome hordes of fans through our doors over the coming weeks.  Our research revealed that Star Wars is the favourite film of over a third of the public and we’re thrilled to help fans from all generations enjoy the latest instalment.”
