Rainbow Six Siege update: PS4 and Xbox One 1.42 patch LIVE with server upgrades

Ubisoft have now rolled out their latest Rainbow Six Siege update today, complete with new PS4, Xbox One and PC server upgrade.

It’s been a long time coming, but today saw the development team launch patch 1.42, which increases the server tickrate to 60Hz on all platforms.

It’s something that fans have been asking for and will now mean the gamestate can refresh 60 times-per-second.

This should help with shooter registration on other players, although Ubisoft has also warned that the FPS issues currently hitting players on PC have not been eliminated.

“Following our testing of the 60hz servers towards the end of the White Noise TTS, we were able to confirm that it is now stable enough to deploy live on all platforms,” Ubisoft confirms.

“We are excited to fulfill this promise made during Operation Health, and look forward to your feedback.

“Additionally, we are continuing our investigation of the FPS dropping issues that some players are experiencing on PC.

“This is a high priority for us, and we will continue to work on tracking down the root cause.”

According to Ubisoft, the primary focus of this patch was to correct major issues discovered late in the TTS cycle, or during the first few days of Operation White Noise.

The other official Rainbow Six Siege update notes can be found below, although they do make for quite a short list.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed: Players lose all functionality/control after picking up a deployable shield.
  • Fixed: Ash’s breaching round does not break the wall in 2F Meeting Room on Tower.
  • Fixed: When a dead Operator is spectating a teammate while on their drone/camera, cycling through Support view modes (drone/camera and Operator views) a third option is available. This view is the First Person point of view of the operator, but the operator is invisible. If the living Operator leaves their camera/drone, the spectating Operator will see a floating gun.
  • Fixed: Dokkaebi’s gadget is not usable while rappelling.
  • Fixed: Zofia and Ela’s stats are inverted.

Ubisoft have also announced that Rainbow Six Siege Year 3 passes can now be purchased.

Following the launch of Operation White Noise, 2018 will see the release of new R6 Seasons, complete with the latest operators and maps.

As usual, the Rainbow Six Siege pass will offer players the chance to try out new content early, while also providing a few other “VIP” benefits.

They won’t be required to play the new content being worked on, but will allow for early access to new operators.

The year-long VIP membership will feature 7-day exclusive early access to eight new operators from Russia, France, Italy, UK, US and Morocco (releasing alongside Seasons throughout the year).

Other VIP benefits confirmed for Year 3 includes 600 Rainbow Six credits, progression boosts, customisation items and shop discounts.

As a new pre-order incentive, Ubisoft are also offering the Damascus Steel Signature weapon skin to those who order before March 5th, 2018.
