Metroid Prime 4 UPDATE – Nintendo Switch games SHOCK, trailer coming soon?

Nintendo Switch exclusive Metroid Prime 4 could be getting its first trailer revealed in an upcoming Nintendo Direct, according to latest rumours.

Metroid Prime 4 was first revealed back at E3 2017 in June, with only a logo for the Nintendo Switch game shown.

No pictures or gameplay footage has been shown of Samus Aran’s first adventure on the Switch, but that could all change soon.

It’s been claimed that the Japanese gaming giant are preparing to reveal a Metroid Prime 4 trailer during a Nintendo Direct in January.

Twitter user Marcus Sellars said a Metroid Prime 4 trailer with gameplay footage will be debuted at an upcoming Nintendo Direct.

The claims tally up with another rumour, with it recently reported a leaked EA e-mail said a Nintendo Direct is coming in January 2018.

Sellars also made the shock claim that Metroid Prime 4 will be developed by Bandai Namco, VG Culture HQ reported.

The first three Metroid Prime games were developed by Retro Studios.

Sellars tweeted: “Bandai Namco = Metroid Prime 4”.

He later added: “Trailer/gameplay at Nintendo direct. You will also see My Nintendo Rewards and online being outlined in detail.”

Nintendo had previously announced that in-house producer Kensuke Tanabe was heading up the development team for Metroid Prime 4.

Tanabe-san was a co-producer on the original Metroid Prime, and a producer on Metroid Prime 2 and 3.

The latest rumours from Sellars comes after he claimed that Bandai Namco will be hosting a major event on December 15.

And he said the Nintendo Switch will have a huge presence there, with five new games for the console set to be announced.

He said these titles are:

• Dark Souls Remastered

• One Piece Dawn

• Soul Calibur 6

• My Hero Academy

• Xenosaga HD Collection

Soul Calibur 6 was officially announced at The Game Awards 2017 last week, but the Switch was not listed as a console it was releasing for.

Soul Calibur 2 launched on the Nintendo Gamecube with Link as a playable character, so fans will surely be hoping for a similar entry on the Switch.

It remains to be seen if Sellars’ claims are accurate.

Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime previously explained why the gaming giant revealed Metroid Prime 4 so early on.

He said: “We wanted to make it clear that Metroid is an important franchise for us.

“As we think about how to satisfy the needs to the Metroid fans, we needed to make sure they understood there was a great console experience coming, in addition to Metroid: Samus Returns coming on Nintendo 3DS.

“That’s what we wanted to make sure it was clear that it wasn’t one or the other, that we were going to support both of our platforms with a great new Metroid experience.”
