Liverpool news: Didier Drogba reveals secret conversation with Mohamed Salah

Salah has been sensational since joining Liverpool for a club record fee in the summer.

When he first arrived there was some scepticism as to how he would fit into Liverpool’s system.

But the Egypt international is now seen as an integral part of Jurgen Klopp’s side with 19 goals in 24 games and is the Premier League top scorer with 13.

It hasn’t been the easiest of career’s for Salah though as he endured a torrid first stint in England with Chelsea.

And his former team-mate Drogba has revealed how he would often be in regular contact with Salah to reassure the 25-year-old.

“He’s unpredictable he can dribble past you easily and he has got stronger and he can score goals,” Drogba told the BBC.

“There was time when he was texting me: ‘I don’t score, I don’t know why.’ I said: ‘It is just a matter of time and confidence.’

“When you have the confidence, everything can happen and you can see now that he is scoring goals.

“I saw how he improved through the years. He had to go to Italy to perform and then come back to England show that he is the player we always believed he was.

“What he has done with the national team as well being able to qualify the country in a very difficult game I think he deserves it.”
