PUBG Xbox One review: First verdict LIVE for Battlegrounds on console

PUBG’s Xbox One release date is finally here, and the first review score has already dropped.

Battlegrounds made its , complete with new features like vaulting and jumping.

The first review score has since gone live from NDTV, which awards the game a respectable 5/10.

The review says that while the gunplay is satisfying, PUBG’s technical issues and challenge aren’t enough to tempt new players.

“Despite some problems, there is some fun to be had with PUBG,” the review states.

“The gunplay is satisfying when aiming works as it should, and the ever shrinking map provides an interesting challenge as it results in more frequent, chaotic encounters.

“As it stands PUBG is an interesting addition to the FPS landscape. There’s an intriguing balance of randomness and skill that could make it a mainstay of the gaming community. But until it sorts out its many technical issues as well as becoming more accessible to newbies, we’d suggest holding off.”

While the review isn’t exactly glowing, it’s worth pointing out that PUBG is still in early access on Xbox One.

“As a reminder, Xbox Game Preview is a way for fans to preview and purchase the game while it’s a work-in-progress,” Microsoft explains.

“PUBG Corp are approaching development on Xbox One with the same community-driven focus that they’ve taken with the game on PC and your feedback is key.

“Play the game, give the developers feedback and help make the game the best it can be.”

The Xbox One X version will also support 4K and HDR, while new optimisations will follow.

For a limited time only, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds fans can purchase the Warrior Pack from the Microsoft store, where it’s available for £7.99.

The PUBG Warrior Pack includes a balaclava hat, a camo t-shirt, pants and tennis shoes. These can be used to customise your character.

The PUBG Accessory and PUBG Tracksuit packs will be released on December 14 and December 21, respectively.

“These packs are exclusive to Xbox fans as standalone offers available for a limited time and as there are no plans to feature any in-game purchases in the Xbox Game Preview version, they are the only items that can be purchased during this period,” Microsoft warns.
