BREAKING: Palestinian man shot dead by Israeli soldiers after Trump announcement CHAOS

The man had been protesting near the Gaza border when he was killed, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

The Israeli military said hundreds of Palestinians were rolling burning tyres and throwing rocks at soldiers across the border.

In a statement, the army said: “During the riots IDF soldiers fired selectively towards two main instigators and hits were confirmed.”

Thousands of Palestinians have been demonstrating on a “day of rage” as tensions flare in the region after Trump announced the US would now recognise Jerusalem as the Israeli capital.

At least 80 Palestinians have been injured by live fire and rubber bullets, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent ambulance service.

Meanwhile dozens more have suffered from tear gas inhalation as unrest in the region continues to grow.

Trump’s announcement unravelled years of work to establish peace in the Middle East and sparked warnings from Hamas about possible uprisings against Israel.

Spontaneous protests broke out in the hours after Trump’s speech and despite the deployment of thousands of Israeli troops there are few signs that tensions will subside quickly.

The Islamist group said Trump had “opened the gates of hell” with his “flagrant aggression” while Turkey strongly condemned the move.

Hamas leader Ismail Haniya called for a “day of rage” after Trump’s announcement, adding: “We have given instructions to all Hamas members and to all its wings to be fully ready for any new instructions or orders that may be given to confront this strategic danger.”
