It seems the queen has lost her crown.
The reigning World’s Sexiest Asian Female has been dethroned for 2017 after her rival took Hollywood cinema and television by storm.
The highly scientic process of choosing showbusiness royalty was “based on the decision of millions of voters by a popular annual poll published by Europe’s No 1 Asian newspaper” Eastern Eye.
This explains why two actresses who have a huge Western presence on the big and small screens have dominated.
Last year’s winner Deepika Padukone had been riding high after starring in the latest xXx movie with Vin Diesel, The Return of Xander Cage, but her biggest rival had a double whammy up her sequinned sleeve.
Padukone has also received criticism from some fans back home for posing in suggesive outfits and provocative positions.
Priyanka Chopra also hit the Hollywood big screen this year opposite a different bald muscle-bound action hero in the Baywatch reboot. It flopped at cinemas wordwide and couldn’t match the box office success of xXX.
However Chopra has become a bigger star in the US with her award-winning lead role in the spy drama, Quantico.
Chopra won the title for a record fifth time and accepted her award with typical grace.
She said: “I cannot actually take credit for this at all. Full credit should be given to my genetics and your optics! Thank you Eastern Eye and to everyone who voted for me to be Asia’s Sexiest Woman, for what I’m told is a record breaking number of times! I feel grateful and am humbled. Consistency is key.”
Padukone actually slipped to third, with Indian TV star Nia Sharma sandwiched between the two big screen beauties.
The crown princess of Bollywood Alia Bhatt took fourth ahead of popular Pakistani star Mahira Khan.
In descending order, the rest of the top 10 was rounded out by Drashti Dhami, Katrina Kaif, Shraddha Kapoor, Gauahar Khan and Rubina Dilaik.
Never let it be said that Bollywood is sexist, the list of 50 Sexiest Asian men is released on December 15.
