Pokemon Go news: Niantic reveal new update for Raids as fans get box boost

Pokemon Go fans can expect more time when it comes to taking on Raid Bosses like Ho-Oh.

In a new update this week, Niantic have apparently confirmed that December 12 will not be the last day Trainers will be able to try and capture the Legendary-type.

The PoGo Hub has revealed that the Niantic support team are sending out messages to players, revealing that Ho-Oh Raids will be extended.

“We’ll also be extending the deadline for catching Ho-Oh. There will be more information coming soon,” the reported message reads.

This will reportedly be announced on the official Pokemon Go news social media platforms at some point in the future.

It seems that this new extension is connected to a recent bug which stopped players completing their Raids.

A recent update appeared to have introduced the frustrating glitch which made it impossible to perform Pokeball captures.

And with the likes of Ho-Oh only around for a small window of time, it was on Niantic to fix it quick.

It was reportedly caused by other Trainers leaving the Raid during the battle sequence, leaving other players unable to reach the final catch phase.

Luckily, Niantic have now confirmed that this latest bug has been removed, ahead of the release of any new Pokemon, or events.

“We’ve resolved an issue which prevented some Trainers from completing Raid Battles. We apologize if you encountered this issue,” a message from the game’s support team confirms.

It’s unclear if this is connected to the most recent issues, but Niantic have also confirmed that deals on discounted boxes with Lucky Eggs, Lure Modules, Ultra Balls, and Great Balls have been extended for an extra week until Monday, December 11.

It seems Niantic are giving players plenty of time to stock up before the release of new Gen 3 Pokemon, or a returning Christmas event.

The development team have confirmed that new Pocket Monsters will be added to the game, although no fixed date has been given for their release.

Trainers are also hoping that the Pokemon Go Christmas event will be returning in 2017, although Niantic have not commented yet on its return.

The Holiday Season Celebration launched pretty late in 2016, not being confirmed until December 23.

This event was far more sprawling then any attempted by Niantic at that point, offering a range of different bonuses over the holiday season.

Here’s the original 2016 statement, which confirms: “For the next couple of weeks, you’ll have even more reason to explore the world with your friends and family while you enjoy our year-end event.

“Don’t miss out on an increased chance to hatch a Togepi (and other Pokémon)! Starting the morning of December 25, 2016, and through the afternoon of January 3, 2017 (PST), PokéStops will award one single-use Incubator each day after your first Photo Disc spin.

“As you visit PokéStops during this time period, there will be a greater chance of finding Eggs that hatch Togepi, Pichu, and several other recently found Pokémon, originally discovered in the Johto region.”
