Freddie Mercury movie SHOCK: Queen biopic director Bryan Singer FIRED after ‘on-set CHAOS’

Over the weekend something was certainly up as production halted mid-shoot on the Queen biopic.

Now it’s been revealed that director Singer, best known for his X-Men movies, has been fired from the 20th Century Fox film.

Yesterday the studio released the statement: “Bryan Singer is no longer the director of Bohemian Rhapsody.

It turns out the filmmaker had clashed with Freddie star Rami Malek, because Singer had been missing from the set on numerous occasions.

In his defence Singer claims the studio wouldn’t allow him to look after “a gravely ill parent.”

He stated: “I wanted nothing more than to be able to finish this project and help honour the legacy of Freddie Mercury and Queen, but Fox would not permit me to do so because I needed to temporarily put my health, and the health of my loved ones, first.

“Rumours that my unexpected departure from the film was sparked by a dispute I had with Rami Malek are not true. While, at times, we did have creative differences on set, Rami and I successfully put those differences behind us and continued to work on the film together until just prior to Thanksgiving.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the director had been missing on a number of occasions, resulting in cinematographer Thomas Newton Sigel having to step in. Bohemian Rhapsody has just two weeks left of filming and is expected to name the replacement director in the next few days.

The book features many unseen snaps of Freddie, who embraced the art of photography despite being known for shyness in private.

Bohemian Rhapsody is released in UK cinemas on December 28, 2018.
