eBay: Rare 50p coin selling for £150 – do YOU have one of these in your wallet?

Now a 50p coin is selling on eBay for the princely sum of £150.

The Girl Guides 50p is being sold by user ‘annit-uk2014’ on the site.

Writing about the coin, the seller said: “Rare 50pence coin celebrating ‘100 years of girl guiding uk’. 2010 coin. Good condition.”

Interested buyers can purchase the coin on a Buy It Now basis for £150, or auction from £100.

Girl Guiding was honoured with this coin in 2010 and has become highly desirable for collectors.

The piece was created for the centenary of the charitable organisation. It features a design with six clovers in a circular design around a smaller clover – which is the sign of the Girl Guides.

An inscription on the same face of the coin reads: “Celebrating one hundred years of girl guiding UK.”

Jonathan Evans and Donna Hainan created the coin.

The Girl Guides are one of the most popular institutions worldwide for children, with 554,939 in the UK at the most recent count.

50p coins can be highly sought after by collectors, and another type is currently selling on eBay for £2million.

The rare coin, which appears popular among collectors, features a scene from The Battle of Hastings.

The battle took place in October 1066 and began the Norman conquest of England.

William of Normandy and his French army stormed the Sussex coast and defeated King Harold II’s men in a battle that left thousands dead.

It is considered one of the most famous and important battles in English history, and last year marked its 950th anniversary.

To commemorate the famous event, the Royal Mint released a 50p coin in late 2016.

The coin shows an image from the famous Bayeux tapestry, the 70-metre long cloth, which served a visual depiction of the battle for historians.
