BARBER SHOP

19:20: I think David Luiz would be the last Chelsea player I’d ask to cut my hair, but Eden Hazard knows better.

Hazard has revealed the Brazilian has picked up a new role at the club – becoming the resident barber at their Cobham training ground.

The Belgium international shared a photo of Luiz shaving him with a cut-throat razor on Instagram, along with the caption: “The new Cobham barber. You have to trust your family. Good job David Luiz but please my friends don’t try this at home.”

Good advice, Eden. Don’t let Luiz hold a cut-throat razor to your neck at home guys…

DELAY…

19:13: Atletico Madrid were about 45 minutes late to arrive at Stamford Bridge tonight folks. The game is due to start at 7.45, but thats why the team news is insanely late.

WHAT’S AT STAKE?!

19:10: Here are the other two permutations. Still no sign of that Chelsea starting XI folks. I’m beginning to think Abramovich has forgotten to pay the Wifi bill…

Group C

*Chelsea hold top spot with qualification certain regardless of their next result. Roma loom close behind and could steal top position if they beat Qarabag and Chelsea drop points against Atletico Madrid. If Roma fail to win, Atletico could snatch second with victory rather than qualifying for the Europa League.

Group D

*Group leaders Barcelona will qualify as group winners, leaving Juventus and Sporting Lisbon with all to play for. If Sporting win and Juventus draw, Sporting will move on to the next round. As it stands currently, Sporting are heading for the Europa League.

WHAT’S AT STAKE?!

19:05: Plenty of you have been asking what are the various permutations tonight, and like a loyal blogging servant – here’s all you need to know.

Group A

*Manchester United have qualified and will win their group unless CSKA Moscow can win by four goals at Old Trafford. Realistically, CSKA will battle with Basel for second place while Benfica have no points and will play no further part in Europe beyond this week.

Group B

*Five straight wins guarantee Paris St-Germain qualification. Second-placed Bayern Munich will also go forward in the Champions League, but would need a four-goal win to pip PSG to top spot. Anderlecht’s poor campaign sees them pointless and they would need at least a 3-0 win in Glasgow to edge Celtic out of the Europa League spot.

CELTIC vs ANDERLECHT

19:00: No messing around from Brendan Rodgers. He names a strong side for their clash with Anderlecht.

Celtic XI: Gordon, Lustig, Boyata, Simunovic, Tierney, Forrest, Brown, Armstrong, Sinclair, McGregor, Dembele.

Subs: De Vries, Bitton, Griffiths, Rogic, Ntcham, Edouard, Ajer.

Anderlecht XI: Boeckx, Appiah, Mbodji, Spajic, Obradovic, Gerkens, Dendoncker, Kums, Trebel, Onyekuru, Hanni.

Subs: Sels, Josue Sa, Deschacht, Bruno, Beric, Teodorczyk, Harbaoui.

Referee: Matej Jug.

BARCELONA vs SPORTING LISBON

18:55: Messi on the bench? Juventus will not be best pleased…

Barcelona XI: Cillessen, Nelson Semedo, Pique, Vermaelen, Digne, Rakitic, Andre Gomes, Denis Suarez, Aleix Vidal, Luis Suarez, Alcacer.

Subs: ter Stegen, Sergio Busquets, Messi, Paulinho, Deulofeu, Jordi Alba, Sergi Roberto.

Sporting XI: Rui Patricio, Piccini, Coates, Mathieu, Bruno Cesar, Battaglia, William Carvalho, Ristovski, Bruno Fernandes, Acuna, Alan Ruiz.

Subs: Salin, Fabio Coentrao, Andre Pinto, Daniel Podence, Dost, Joao Palhinha, Gelson Martins.

Referee: Craig Thomson.

JOSE WANTS A ROSE

18:50: Have we got time for a quick transfer line? Only 27 days, 5 hours and 5 minutes until the window opens…

The Daily Mail report that Jose Mourinho is confident of signing Tottenham’s Danny Rose for £50million.

Obviously that would mean the end of Luke Shaw, but is Rose worth £50m?! I guess United have Kyle Walker’s move to the Etihad to thank for that price…

MANCHESTER UNITED vs CSKA MOSCOW

18:45: Chelsea are taking ages to announce their starting XI folks, so here’s the strong side Jose Mourinho has picked for tonight’s game.

Manchester United XI: Romero, Valencia, Lindelöf, Smalling, Blind, Shaw, Herrera, Pogba, Mata, Rashford, Lukaku.

Subs: Pereira, Darmian, Tuanzebe, Young, McTominay, Lingard, Martial.

CSKA Moscow XI: Akinfeev, Fernandes, V. Berezutskiy, Ignashevich, Vasin, Nababkin, Kuchaev, Golovin, Vitinho, Chalov, Dzagoev.

Subs: Pomazun, Makarov, Gordyushenko, Zhamaletdinov, Khosonov, Olanare.

TEAM NEWS KLAXON

18:43: The starting XI’s will be arriving any moment now folks. Fingers. On. Buttons…

CHELSEA vs ATLETICO MADRID

18:40: Diego Simeone, nicknamed El Cholo, lauded the character of his players in an unusual way when Atletico won 3-1 at Chelsea in the Champions League semi-finals in April 2014.

“I want to thank the mothers of these kids, because they were born with balls this big,” Simeone said. That side, featuring Thibaut Courtois and Diego Costa, were beaten finalists to city rivals Real, but won LaLiga.

The 2017 side will need to show similar levels of character and even that might not be enough to avoid dropping into the Europa League.

I wonder if Simeone’s met Troy Deeney before? They could talk about cojones all night!

WHAT’S ON?

18:25: Oh there’s plenty.

Manchester United welcome CSKA Moscow to Old Trafford needing to avoid a huge defeat to qualify…

CSKA’s keeper Akinfeev kept his first clean sheet in 44 Champions League appearances last time out. I doubt there will be a London bus situation tonight.

Tonight’s other fixtures include; Roma vs Qarabag, Barcelona vs Sporting Lisbon, Bayern Munich vs Paris St-Germain, Benfica vs Basel, Celtic vs Anderlecht, Olympiakos vs Juventus.

GOOD EVENING

18:20: Welcome to our LIVE coverage of Chelsea vs Atletico Madrid from Stamford Bridge.

After five games, countless goals and a gazillion air miles – we’ve reached the final round of Champions League group fixtures!

Give yourselves a pat on the back…

Chelsea hold top spot with qualification certain regardless of tonight’s result, but Roma loom close behind and could steal top position if they beat Qarabag and Antonio Conte’s side drop points.

Plenty at stake for y’all!

CHELSEA vs ATLETICO MADRID

David Luiz will be absent once more when Chelsea play Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

Luiz – like forward Charly Musonda – has a knee problem as Blues boss Antonio Conte aims to balance targeting a victory to top Group C with preparations for Saturday’s trip to West Ham.

Striker Michy Batshuayi was an unused substitute for the win over Newcastle, so could feature.

Chelsea provisional squad: Courtois, Caballero, Rudiger, Alonso, Fabregas, Drinkwater, Kante, Morata, Hazard, Pedro, Bakayoko, Moses, Kenedy, Zappacosta, Willian, Batshuayi, Cahill, Christensen, Azpilicueta, Clarke-Salter, Sterling, Eduardo, Ampadu.

MANCHESTER UNITED vs CSKA MOSCOW

Paul Pogba will start Manchester United’s last Champions League group game against CSKA Moscow but Zlatan Ibrahimovic will not feature.

Pogba was sent off against Arsenal and is suspended for Sunday’s Manchester derby, while United are handling Ibrahimovic with care after his return from knee ligament damage.

Luke Shaw could appear for just the third time this season, Sergio Romero replaces David De Gea in goal and the injury list contains Nemanja Matic, Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini, Phil Jones and Eric Bailly.

Manchester United provisional squad: Romero, Pereira, Lindelof, Rojo, Smalling, Valencia, Young, Darmian, Blind, Shaw, Tuanzebe, Pogba, Matic, Herrera, McTominay, Mata, Lingard, Mkhitaryan, Martial, Rashford, Lukaku.
