Star Wars 8: Opening scene CONFIRMED and it’s NOT what you think?

One thing has always been pretty clear.

Unlike previous Star wars movies, The Last Jedi will start almost immediately after the end scene of The Force Awakens.

Extensive behind the scenes footage and the new trailers have shown Rey and Luke pick up their encounter at the very moment the scene cut in Episode 7.

Fans have always assumed that this means the movie will open on Ahch-To as Rey places Luke’s lightsaber into his mechanical hand.

A shock new revelation completely disproves this and leaves two major possibilities and one outside shot.

WARNING POTENTIAL SPOILERS

Major leaks have always held that Luke’s first words to Rey will be “Who are you?”

Either way, director Rian Johnson just confirmed what the opening word of his movie will be and it’s” “We’re.” After a long isolation, Luke is very unlikely to refer to anything in the plural.

This may seem ludicrously small to go on, but it immediately appears to remove the chances of Episode 8 opening on the clifftops of Ahch-To. It looks like The Last Jedi will open mid-drama during the battle for D’Qar and here is why.

The trailers have shown dramatic scenes as the First Order attacks the Resistance base planet which means the opening words will most likely go to one of two situations.

Either Hux or Kylo Ren (or some subordinate) will say something like “We’re approaching the planet,” or “We’re approaching the Rebel base.”

Equally Leia or one of her trusted advisers could say, “We’re under attack” or “We’re detecting approaching vessels” or even “We’re preparing to evacuate.”

The intriguing outside shot comes from earlier leaked reports which actually described the opening scene of the movie.

Apparently the scene jumps back slightly in time and shows the Millennium Falcon entering air space over Ahch-To. In this case, it could be Rey who says to Chewbacca, “We’re approaching the planet,” or if they are already zooming over the waters , “We’re approaching the island.”

And while everyone is suggesting their theories, we’re hoping the movie actually opens with Luke turning to Rey and saying “We’re reunited at last, my child.”
