WATCH: China tests NEXT-GEN hypersonic missile which can strike ANYWHERE in the world

The chilling video, made available through Chinese state media, shows a series of launches of the Dongfeng-41 rocket, which officials claim can be armed with multiple warheads.

Beijing says the missile, also known as the DF-41, could be ready to enter active service by next year.

The new weapon reportedly has a range of at least 7,500 miles and Chinese experts claim it can carry up to 10 miniaturised nuclear warheads which are able to strike with a high degree of accuracy.

The test footage shows the new intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM) blasting from fixed and mobile launchers in a variety of locations.

This comes as North Korea test launched its own ICBM this evening amid rising tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

Kim Jong-un’s regime fired the long-range rocket at around 3am local time (6pm GMT), which blasted east from the secretive state and travelled for around 620 miles before smashing into the Sea of Japan.

And just minutes after the launch, it emerged South Korea had test-fired its own missile to demonstrate its ability to counter any threat with a “precision strike”.

In response to the North Korean launch, President Donald Trump said “we will take care of it”.

Chinese state media says its new ICBM has been developed to match the latest arsenals wielded by both the US and Russia.

Yang Chengjun, a Chinese expert on missile technologies and nuclear warfare strategy, told the state-run China Central Television Station the DF-41 missile is reliable, quick and easy to transport.

He said: “The missile can hit every corner of the earth, allowing China to counter a nuclear strike on the country.”

He added previous test launches of the DF-41 had all been successful, and the new technology was able to match the US and Russian success rates of around 90 per cent and 80 per cent respectively.

And Mr Yang claimed it had taken China just a little more than 10 years to design and produce the missile from scratch.

He went on to say it would take the US or Russia would some 25 years to complete a similar task.

In an interview with Chinese pro-government newspaper Global Times, Xu Guangyu, a senior adviser of the China Arms Control and Disarmament Association claimed the DF-41 “can carry up to 10 nuclear warheads”.

He said: “Once the Dongfeng-41 goes into service, China’s ability to protect its own safety and to prevent wars would greatly increase.”
