Putin’s daughter revealed? Dancer Katerina Tikhonova named after years of secrecy

Manfred Mohab, the Vice President for Legal Affairs for the World Rock‘n‘Roll Confederation (WRRC), stated during a dance event that he knew Mrs Tikhonova through their work together at the organisation.

When asked whether Mrs Tikhonova was the daughter of Vladimir Putin, he said “Yes. I know her, yes of course” and responded with a further “yes” when asked a second time.

Reuters news agency has confirmed her identity through two other sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

After an article was published revealing the information, Mr Mohab then telephoned the agency in question and retracted his comments.

He said: “I can’t confirm that I know the daughter of Mr Putin.

“I have nothing to do with them.

“Believe me, it was so loud in the hall that a lot of the things I can’t understand and other things I felt that I didn’t understand right.

“So it’s not sure that I gave you the right answers.”

Mr Mohab added that he had problems with his hearing, declaring “I’m sure we had some misunderstandings.”

The revelation marks the second time in two years that Mrs Tikhonova has been referred to as the daughter of Putin.

In 2015, Andrey Akimov, the deputy chairman of the board of directors at Russian banking company Gazprombank revealed that Katerina Tikhonova was the daughter of the Russian leader before withdrawing his comments.

After the comments were reported on, Gazprombank told the agency in question that Mr Akimov was “surprised and bewildered” with the quotes attributed to his name.

Mrs Tikhonova is the vice president for expansion and marketing for the WRRC, she also runs publicly-funded projects at Moscow State University.

The vice president has also competed in acrobatic rock ’n’ roll – a competitive form of partner dancing.

The dancer competed at the World Championship of Acrobatic Rock’n’roll last year with her dance partner Dmitry Alexeyev.

The Kremlin and Mrs Tikhonova did not respond to requests for comment – the relationship between the 31-year-old and Putin has never been confirmed by either her, Moscow or other representatives.

Putin’s alleged daughter is married to Kirill Shamalov, the son of one of the Russian leader’s best friends who has made over $1billion (£748,000,000) from a petrochemical company in the region – he is Russia’s youngest billionaire and has previously appeared on Forbes’ Russian wealth list.
