BT internet DOWN – broadband service not working for hundreds of users

BT is purportedly down right now in the UK with hundreds of customers reporting issues with the company’s broadband internet service.

Independent website DownDetector, which tracks social comments around a certain topic to monitor outages across the globe, showed a spike in reports of BT customers reporting issues.

Hundreds of BT customers are complaining that the internet service was not working for them.

Issues with BT internet began around 14:43, according to Down Detector.

There has been no official word on the outage by BT yet.

BT offers a number of troubleshooting techniques on their website that they encourage users to try.

They are as follows:

1. Make sure there are lights on your Hub. If not, check the power cables are plugged in properly and it’s switched on at the mains.

2. Turn off your Hub, computer and any devices you’re trying to connect for five minutes before restarting. This can really help.

3. There might be a temporary problem with the network that’s affecting every broadband connection in your area. You can check for network problems by entering your telephone number on our service status page >

4. Broadband needs a working phone line. So check you can make a phone call and that there’s no noise on the line.

5.  The issue may be with your internal telephone extensions rather than being a problem with your phone line itself. You can easily check this by connecting your Hub to your test socket. Watch our video to find out how to do this:
