Pokemon Go event news: Ho-Oh Raid release, Farfetch’d update, Niantic end date

If you haven’t caught an onion wielding bird by this point, there is another Pokemon Go event bonus coming your way.

While Niantic have confirmed that the worldwide Farfetch’d release is coming to an end very soon – trainers have until around 1am in the UK – there is another one being launched.

Niantic have now confirmed that Pokemon Ho-Oh Raids are being released worldwide, as part of the 3 Billion Pocket Monsters caught bonuses.

“We issued a challenge—and you answered the call. Collectively, you caught over 3 billion Pokémon during the Global Catch Challenge, unlocking some amazing rewards along the way,” a message from Niantic explains.

“But that’s not all… As a result of all your hard work, Ho-Oh is now appearing in Raid Battles at Gyms around the world until December 12, 2017.

“So, gather your friends and find a Legendary Raid near you.”

Ho-Oh was rumoured to be launching this week, with new EX Raid tests being spotted around the world, before today’s big announcement.

It should be noted that Ex Raids will now primarily take place at sponsored locations and at Gyms found in parks. This is in order to make them more accessible to a greater number of people.

Likewise, Trainers with high-level Gym badges or players with lots of Raid experience will be more likely to receive Ex Raid invites for specific Gyms.

Niantic will also take into account popular Raid times when it schedules Ex Raids, while players can expect Stardust and Premium Raid passes when battles are cancelled.

And when it comes to the all the other bonuses fans are currently enjoying, Niantic had some more good news.

The double Stardust, double XP and 6 hour-long Lure Modules are set to stick around until Friday, December 1.

“Good news, Trainers! You’ll continue to receive double Stardust and double XP until 1:00 P.M. PST on December 1.”

That means the bonuses won’t actually run out in the UK until around 9pm that same evening, giving fans plenty of time to stock up on Stardust.

Trainers are hoping that this latest event will be followed by another one, centered around the holiday season,

While it seems pretty logical that Niantic would repeat the seasonal event they held last year, they do have some other big plans for December.

This includes the launch of Gen 3 Pocket Monsters, with the first batch launched during the Halloween Celebrations.

Fans can expect to hear more about these launches very soon, although Niantic have yet to reveal exact timings for their release.
